The U.S. Senate confirmed six Biden appointees to the TVA board of directors, giving Biden appointees a majority. SACE Executive Director Stephen Smith called for delaying decisions on replacing coal plants with gas facilities until the new board members can review the plans. TVA is planning to replace its Cumberland coal plant with a gas turbine facility, which SACE has opposed in favor of solar, wind, and storage alternatives.

We'd like to see any decision about building new gas plants at Cumberland, as well as at the Kingston plant, to be held until the new directors have a chance to review this decision
