TVERC & TVA meetings are
not "nuclear protest" events

We all know that most government agencies tend to
take the bit in their teeth and run away with regulating,
administering and the threading of red tape. Seldom do they
offer the average citizen an opportunity to comment on how
they operate or what should be the priorities of the agency.
Comes now the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
scheduling a series of meetings for residents of the district
they serve with electric power to come forward and comment
on their proposed plan for operating over the next 25 years.
Included in the plan are the methods TVA intends to use to
generate power. Some methods are excluded. Many of us
feel agencies like TVA should be encouraging alternative
means to nuclear (creates extremely hazardous waste) power
and use of fossil fuel (creates acid rain, air pollution, rapidly
depletes finite resources). You can say so at these meetings,
which are NOT protests, but are offered to you to allow your
comments.
Anyone who writes off the opportunity as "just
another nuke protest" is throwing away a precious
opportunity to advise those who try to serve us!
