TVA will repay $225 million on debt this year
In this mention
The Tennessee Valley Authority announced plans to repay $225 million in debt over the next fiscal year, with potential funding from layoffs, rate increases, or budget cuts. TVA Chairman Craven Crowell also proposed ending the agency's nonpower programs by 1999 to focus on power production and future competition. The Tennessee Valley Energy Reform Coalition expressed skepticism about TVA's ability to achieve debt reduction without raising rates.
They are going to have to get the revenue from somewhere. We have heard from multiple sources that the TVA is going to have to increase the rates this fall. How much is open for question.
