TVA sees fund shortfall
In this mention
The Tennessee Valley Authority faces a $363 million shortfall in its nuclear decommissioning trust fund, blamed on falling stock markets and rising environmental costs. Stephen Smith, director of the Knoxville-based Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, criticized TVA's earlier decisions regarding decommissioning fund contributions. TVA must address how to fund the eventual closure and cleanup of its three nuclear plants at Browns Ferry, Sequoyah, and Watts Bar.

Stephen A. Smith
