TVA resists clean-coal proposal

In this mention

The Tennessee Valley Authority declined to participate in the Bush administration's FutureGen clean-coal prototype power plant project, citing other financial priorities including coal plant upgrades and nuclear reactor restart costs. Stephen Smith of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy criticized TVA's decision, noting that the utility derives 55-60% of its power from coal and should be involved in clean-energy solutions to address air quality problems in the Tennessee Valley.

I think it is unfortunate that TVA, which gets 55 to 60 percent of their power from coal, is not interested
