TVA ready to explain restart plan
In this mention
TVA officials prepare to meet with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to discuss plans to restart Unit 1 at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, idle since 1985. Stephen Smith of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy argues TVA should prioritize energy conservation instead of restarting the aging reactor. The utility estimates the $1.77 billion project will take five years and create approximately 100 permanent jobs.
Instead of spending money to bring an aging reactor out of retirement, the utility should be promoting conservation of electrical power by customers.
