TVA OKs $1.5 billion for coal plant scrubbers

The Tennessee Valley Authority approved a $1.5 billion contract to install smokestack scrubbers at five coal-fired power plants across the Southeast, expected to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by approximately 200,000 tons annually.
