TVA halts plans on gas-fired facility
In this mention
The Tennessee Valley Authority canceled its planned $360 million natural gas-fired power plant in Tullahoma, Tennessee, after investing nearly $150 million, citing slower power-demand growth and cheaper alternatives. Stephen Smith, executive director of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, criticized the decision as irrational, arguing TVA was clearing the way to pursue a more expensive and risky nuclear path at Browns Ferry instead of completing the gas plant.
