Tennessee Valley Authority Makes Major Coal Plant Retirement Announcement

In this mention

The Tennessee Valley Authority Board voted to retire coal-burning units at three plants (Colbert and Widows Creek in Alabama, Paradise in Kentucky), totaling over 3,000 MW of capacity. Environmental groups including the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy praised the decision as a move away from outdated coal toward cleaner energy sources. TVA is developing its next Integrated Resource Plan and should commit to renewable energy deployment and energy efficiency improvements.

We applaud TVA's responsible and forward-thinking decision to retire these coal-fired power plants. We look forward to working with TVA to realize its full potential to transition from outdated, inefficient generation technology to cleaner, more modern resources such as energy efficiency and renewables.
