Southern students rally for clean energy

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Student leaders around the South are rallying this weekend in Knoxville for renewable energy and cleaner air.

More than two hundred students from eight states have arrived at the University of Tennessee for the conference on environmental activism. Each brings stories from their home campuses _ from passing new "green power" student fees to making campus buildings more energy efficient.

U-T-Knoxville is devoting the spring semester to the environment _ with special lectures, speakers and activities.

Before a newly installed solar array and wind turbine, the students cheered this morning as one student urged them to join the quote "energy revolution."

Organizer Steve Smith with the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy says they are feeling the power to make a difference.
