Southeast a ‘powerhouse’ of EV manufacturing but utility investment lags rest of nation: report

The Southeast is emerging as a major EV manufacturing hub with over 60,000 announced jobs, but the region lags national EV adoption rates and utility investment. According to SACE's annual report, the six-state region claims only 7% of national transportation electrification investments despite representing 18% of the U.S. population. SACE Electric Transportation Policy Director Stan Cross emphasized the need for regulatory education and substantial infrastructure investment to support EV deployment.

We're going to do a lot of education and outreach to our regulators to make sure that they understand that tension between utility investment and ratepayer protection. There's going to be a lot of investment needed to accelerate the deployment of infrastructure to meet the demand of these vehicles.
