Solar advocates reaffirm their approval of Duke Energy’s proposed net metering successor in North Carolina
In this mention
Clean energy advocates including the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, NCSEA, SEIA, and SELC submitted comments to North Carolina regulators supporting Duke Energy's proposed Solar Choice Net Metering program, which would replace the current net metering structure with avoided-cost rates and time-of-use pricing. While the proposal includes policies advocates have previously opposed, they view it as preferable to the expiration of the current incentive program and the market uncertainty that would follow. The proposal faces opposition from rooftop solar companies and climate justice nonprofits who argue it would harm the solar industry and low-income customers.
