In this mention
A Union of Concerned Scientists report finds that North Carolina power producers spent $1.8 billion importing coal from other states in 2012. Ulla Reeves, high-risk energy program director for the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, argues the state could benefit economically by reallocating this investment toward renewable energy, noting North Carolina ranks second nationally in installed solar capacity.
