Report Highlights Importance of Water Conservation in Energy Planning

In this mention

A new report from the Union of Concerned Scientists highlights the importance of water conservation in energy planning, noting that Georgia's power plants are vulnerable to drought disruptions due to reliance on water-intensive coal and nuclear generation. Sara Barczak of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy criticizes Georgia's decision to expand nuclear capacity at Plant Vogtle rather than invest in water-saving energy efficiency and renewables. The report recommends that energy planners factor in cost, carbon emissions, and water-use when making future energy decisions.

That would have been such an excellent opportunity to do some real investments in energy efficiency and renewables which are inherently water-saving. Instead they chose nearly the most water-intensive energy supply option there is. It can't just be this 'if not coal, then nuclear' or we are stuck just where we are today which is this expensive, water-hogging energy infrastructure.
