Report: Florida leads the Southeast for installed solar capacity
In this mention
A new Southern Alliance for Clean Energy report shows Florida leads the Southeast with 13,850 megawatts of installed solar capacity as of 2024, with capacity expected to more than double to nearly 30,000 megawatts by 2030. Florida Power & Light is identified as a regional leader in renewable energy investment, adding an average of 1,585 megawatts of solar per year over the last three years. SACE executive director Stephen Smith emphasizes that solar investment helps control rising electric bills while lowering climate pollution.
That is what it's going to take to be able to manage costs going forward, is getting technologies that can be brought on quickly, cost-effectively, don't have fuel cost risk. So, electrification in the utility sector is critical in solving the climate crisis.
