PSC wants the public to pay for nuclear upgrades

The Public Service Commission recently suggested the public should pay for the costs of nuclear upgrades from Progress Energy Florida and Florida Power & Light.
Costs related to construction, expansion or upgrades of power plants are expected to reach $292 million.
Approximately $150 million comes from Florida Power & Light Co. and $142 million from Progress Energy Florida.
An environmental group, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, says the move puts the company's profits ahead of consumers.
The Public Service Commission will make a decision on Nov. 26.
FPL says its projects will ultimately reduce consumers' fuel costs.
Progress Energy is still waiting for a license to build a new plant in Levy County.
