Private meeting set on TVA proposal
In this mention
TVA officials and Congress members met privately to discuss a proposal to end $100 million in TVA programs spanning 60 years, including flood control, river navigation, environmental research, and land management. Stephen Smith of the Tennessee Valley Energy Reform Coalition criticized the closed-door nature of the meeting, arguing the process should be transparent to the millions affected by TVA decisions.
This process should be happening in a fishbowl. I'm very disappointed. I really think that Zach Wamp should not have closed this meeting. Is he representing the interests of a few at the top of TVA or is he representing the millions who have a stake in what is happening here?
