George Cavros, Florida energy policy attorney for the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, criticized the decision as locking the university into fossil fuels for 50 years rather than pursuing clean energy innovation. The project faces opposition from climate advocates and student activists who argue UF should lead the transition to 100% renewable energy.
