FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- A Hands Across the Sand event is scheduled for Folly Beach and other shore communities around the nation.

The event is being organized by the Southern Alliance For Clean Energy. At noon Saturday, participants along Folly Beach will gather and hold hands for 15 minutes to protest offshore drilling for fossil fuels.

The alliance says the nation should be turning its attention to renewable, clean fuel such as wind energy.

It's the third straight year a Hands Across the Sand event has been organized on Folly Beach.
