Offshore drilling concerns increase in Florida as gas prices spike

As gasoline prices spike above $5 per gallon in Florida, experts warn that pressure to allow offshore drilling may intensify despite bipartisan legislative efforts to maintain the current moratorium through 2032. Susan Glickman of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy notes that rising gas prices increase pressure on oil companies to drill, and advocates for electrification of transportation as the long-term solution to reduce oil dependence.

Oil companies have existing leases and they're going to do what they're going to do, especially with gas prices rising. So when the gas prices rise, that increases the pressure to drill.
