Officials hit TVA pollution record
In this mention
The EPA argued before the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that TVA violated the Clean Air Act for 20 years by making improvements at seven coal-fired plants without installing pollution control equipment. Stephen Smith of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy called the case potentially the most significant environmental case in the Southeast, with implications across the country. A decision in TVA's favor could weaken similar complaints against 12 other utilities in the South and Midwest.
This literally may be the most significant environmental case to be heard in the Southeast. It will have effect not only in the across the country.
Stephen A. Smith
