A Synapse Energy Economics study co-sponsored by the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association and clean energy groups, including SACE, found that a high-renewables carbon plan would save North Carolina ratepayers $18 billion through 2050 compared to Duke Energy's proposal. The Synapse plan adds 21 GW more solar and 22 GW more battery storage by 2050 than Duke's plan, while avoiding new gas capacity through 2030.
