Natural gas gains use by TVA as generation source
In this mention
The Tennessee Valley Authority has significantly increased its reliance on natural gas for electricity generation, with gas use climbing 70 percent in fiscal 2012 while coal-fired generation declined 30 percent. Gas now fuels about one-fifth of TVA's electricity generation, up from less than 1 percent in 2007. John D. Wilson of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy praised TVA's coal plant retirements and reduced greenhouse emissions, though he noted gas plants face greater price volatility than coal.
