N.C. governor launches climate plan with ambitious EJ goals

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed Executive Order 246, establishing a net-zero emissions target within 30 years with emphasis on environmental justice and transportation decarbonization. The order calls for 1.25 million zero-emissions vehicles by 2030 and 50% of vehicle sales to be EVs by decade's end. Stan Cross of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy praised the order's use of social cost of carbon analysis in state decision-making.

Every decision will be evaluating what's that long-term cost-benefit to do this emission reduction action and, conversely, what's that long-term cost if we don't.
