KUB Challenges Charter Change

The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, along with other organizations, developed a KUB reform package that Knoxville City Council is considering for a November ballot referendum. SACE executive director Dr. Stephen Smith advocated for voter approval of charter amendments to improve accountability, cost savings, and transparency at the utility. KUB leadership pushed back against the proposal, arguing the utility already meets those goals and that a charter amendment is not the appropriate instrument for change.
We're not asking Council to make these reforms. We're asking you to put in on the ballot for the voters to decide.
