Jim Fyke new head of TDEC
In this mention
Governor Phil Bredesen promoted Jim Fyke, a former Metro Parks chief, to head the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, replacing Betsy Child who resigned. Stephen Smith, executive director of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, praised the appointment as demonstrating the governor's commitment to environmental policy and natural resource management.
It's a solid step consistent with what the governor said in his State of the State address. Our quality of life and economy are tied to how we deal with the natural world and its resources. I think he's following through on this commitment, and we applaud that.
Stephen A. Smith
