Gulf Powers joins others in request to scale back energy efficiency goals
In this mention
Florida's largest electric utilities, including Gulf Power, are requesting the Florida Public Service Commission allow them to scale back energy-efficiency programs, citing declining demand and high costs. Susan Glickman of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy Action Fund argues the proposal would effectively eliminate efficiency programs and that utilities should help customers lower bills through cost-effective energy efficiency rather than building new natural-gas and nuclear plants.
The utilities feign that their concern is for poor people in our communities. If the concern was for poor people why don't they help them lower their bill by offering cost-effective energy efficiency?
