Groups Collect More than 735,000 Comments to Curb Carbon Pollution

Following publication of the Obama administration and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) long-awaited rule limiting industrial carbon pollution from power plants April 13, a broad coalition of clean air, labor and other progressive organizations today announced the collection of more than 735,000 comments after just the first week of the public comment period. They call on the EPA and White House to move forward with the strongest possible carbon pollution standard for new and existing power plants.
The groups say that setting strong limits on carbon pollution is not only critical to public health and the environment, but will also diminish the impacts of climate change and has broad public support as evidenced by numerous polls and the massive total of more than 735,000 comments submitted thus far in support of strong limits on carbon pollution. The groups plan to demonstrate that support with the delivery of an even larger number of public comments before the close of the 60-day public comment period, June 12, 2012.
