Group trying to get E85 in ET
In this mention
A local environmental group, the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition, is working to bring E85 (an ethanol-gasoline blend) to pumps in East Tennessee counties. Stephen Smith, executive director of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, endorses E85 as an alternative fuel for environmental, energy security, and rural economic development reasons. Pilot Travel Centers is considering experimental use of E85 but faces logistical challenges with tank separation and infrastructure modifications.
we're very strong for alternative fuels, and there's three reasons - the environmental benefits; the fact that you're using a renewable resource, ethanol, that can be grown and there's no oil drilling and no emissions. The other big issue is it helps in security in not being dependent on foreign oil sources and supporting foreign oil sources. The third reason is rural economic development we're supporting farmers and the rural economy rather than supporting oil and the big oil companies like Exxon.
