TVA's Green Power Switch program, which allows customers to purchase renewable energy from wind, solar, and methane sources at a premium, has grown to serve 5,614 residential and 258 business customers across the Tennessee Valley. Stephen Smith of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy praised the program and has been instrumental in signing up customers. The program is positioned as an eighth-largest green-power initiative nationally in terms of new renewable energy capacity.
