Georgia PSC gives the greenlight to Georgia Power's massive data center spurred expansion
In this mention
The Georgia Public Service Commission unanimously approved Georgia Power's request for nearly 10 GW of new generation capacity, primarily from methane gas turbines, to support the state's expanding data center industry. Maggie Shober of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy condemned the decision, criticizing the long-term commitment to carbon emissions and indicating the organization may pursue legal challenges. The approval came despite PSC staff analysis suggesting only about one-third of the requested capacity was warranted by existing contracts.
