Georgia Power again presses case for customer rate hike to pay for bloated Plant Vogtle expansion
In this mention
Georgia Power seeks approval for a stipulated agreement that would cap customer costs for the Plant Vogtle nuclear expansion at $7.6 billion, with the utility covering $2.6 billion of the $10 billion project. Bryan Jacob of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy questioned whether the PSC should independently verify the prudency of the settlement rather than simply accepting the agreement reached by advocacy groups and the utility. The PSC is scheduled to vote on the agreement on December 19, 2023.
Does the fact that some parties have agreed to stipulate a certain amount as prudent and reasonable relieve the commission itself from the responsibility to independently determine that value
