FPL's SolarTogether program blurs lines around community solar

In this mention

Florida Power & Light's SolarTogether program proposes 1,490 MW of utility-scale solar capacity offered to customers via subscription, marketed as the nation's largest community solar program. However, clean energy advocates including Bryan Jacob of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy argue the program doesn't meet traditional community solar definitions because the solar farms are built on distant rural land rather than in customers' communities. The program allocates 55% of benefits to subscribers and 45% to all customers, with 37.5 MW reserved for low-income residents after settlement negotiations.

The die-hard solar enthusiast activist parties might conclude that what FPL is offering and what Duke is designing don't technically meet the definition of community solar because the earliest definitions of community solar would be small and in the community
