Forum considers TVA meeting format
A journalism society Friday will discuss whether TVA is becoming less accessible in a forum called "TVA USA: Is TVA Becoming Less Open?"
The forum is being held by the East Tennessee Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi.
On a panel discussing the issue will be Mark Siegel, executive director of the Tennessee Valley Energy Coalition; Jenny Freeman, executive director of Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning; and Dean Hill Rivkin, a law professor at the University of Tennessee.
The TVA board has been criticized recently for switching to a new meeting format that limits questions from the public to TVA managers.
TVA on Tuesday announced top managers will set aside an hour each week to meet with the public and press.
The noon lunch meeting will be at the YWCA, 420 Clinch Ave. Lunch, catered by the Lunch Box, will cost $5.50 per person. For reservations, call Andrew Oppmann, 521-1839, by noon Wednesday.
