Florida Supreme Court justices seem to back advance fee for nuke plants
In this mention
The Florida Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a challenge by the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy to a 2006 law allowing utilities to collect advance fees from customers for nuclear plant construction. SACE contends the law is too vague and gives the PSC unbridled discretion, but justices appeared skeptical of the challenge. SACE executive director Stephen Smith stated the organization will continue working to repeal the law, characterizing the advance fees as "easy money" for utilities.
For the utilities, it's just easy money.
