Environmentalists say ruling bolsters Knox air cleanup
In this mention
A Supreme Court decision upholding EPA air pollution standards is praised by Stephen Smith, executive director of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, as beneficial for Knoxville, which ranks among the most air-polluted metropolitan areas in the country. The ruling is expected to bolster TVA's commitment to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions at its coal-fired power plants by $800 million through 2004.
This is a great day for human health and the environment. There have been all kinds of attempts to undermine the Clean Air Act the way the law was originally written. The Supreme Court is to be commended for its health-based approach, which is the right approach.
