Environmental group says power plant pollution kills 1,440 Tennesseans each year

In this mention

A report by the Tennessee Clean Air Task Force and Clear the Air finds that pollution from electric power plants kills 1,440 people in Tennessee annually, with the Tri-Cities and Chattanooga among the nation's highest-impact areas. Stephen Smith, executive director of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, identifies TVA's aging coal-fired plants as a major source of sulfur dioxide emissions, noting that only one of TVA's 11 coal plants meets modern emission standards. The report recommends a 75 percent reduction in power plant pollution to prevent hundreds of deaths annually.
