Emails, docs show TVA’s ties to fight against federal regs
In this mention
Newly disclosed records reveal that the Tennessee Valley Authority maintained close ties to the Utility Air Regulatory Group (UARG), a now-defunct industry trade group that litigated against federal Clean Air Act regulations, contradicting CEO Jeff Lyash's 2019 assertion that TVA never authorized UARG to represent it in court. Maggie Shober of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy criticized TVA for appearing not to follow its own board policies against ratepayer funding of litigation. The disclosures have prompted calls for an independent investigation and renewed scrutiny of TVA's commitment to renewable energy, particularly given its recent contract with McGuireWoods LLP, a firm that employs former UARG attorneys.
