Eastman promises cleaner air for Tennessee Valley

TVA is conducting a new analysis of coal gasification technology at the urging of U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander, examining its economics and environmental viability as a potential power generation option. Eastman Chemical Company, which has operated a coal gasification facility in Kingsport since 1983, has formed a subsidiary to help other utilities adopt the technology. Ulla Reeves of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy expressed encouragement about TVA's consideration of coal gasification, noting it could reduce major pollutants by approximately 90 percent.

I'm very encouraged that TVA is being pointed in the right direction and that Senator Alexander is encouraging them. They need that kind of oversight.
