E.P.A. Lists 'High Hazard' Coal Ash Dumps
In this mention
The EPA released a list of 44 'high hazard potential' coal ash waste dumps across the country following the December 2008 Kingston Fossil Plant spill. Stephen Smith, director of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, questioned the EPA's commitment to aggressive regulation of coal ash disposal, expressing concern about a potential hands-off approach.
It's still unclear to me what the E.P.A.'s ultimate goal here is to do. Are they really going to aggressively regulate this material like they need to, or are they taking more of a hands-off approach?
