Duke eyes gas and renewables in N.C. carbon plan
In this mention
Duke Energy filed its Carolinas Carbon Plan with the North Carolina Utilities Commission, outlining four scenarios for meeting the state's carbon reduction goals, including coal retirements, renewables expansion, and new natural gas and nuclear generation. Only one scenario would achieve the state law's interim target of 70 percent emissions cuts from 2005 levels by 2030. The plan could increase average household monthly bills by $18 to $35 depending on the scenario chosen.
