Could a massive gas plant come to Davidson County? Here's what we know
In this mention
Environmental advocates, including Shelley Robbins of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, are raising concerns about a proposed 1,394-megawatt natural gas power plant that Duke Energy is considering for Davidson County, North Carolina. The facility would be located on a 1,600-acre Duke-owned parcel near West Davidson High School and would significantly impact the rural agricultural area. Duke Energy states no final decision has been made and that any project would require North Carolina Utilities Commission approval and public input.
The power plant is a giant industrial facility. It has significant emissions. It completely changes the landscape in western Davidson County from this agricultural economy to a massive industrial facility.
