A coalition of consumer and environmental groups, including the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, urged Florida to adopt new energy efficiency standards for 10 commercial products. Jim Presswood of SACE argued that the standards would eliminate the need for three power plants and conserve water resources. The coalition estimated Florida consumers and businesses would save nearly $3 billion between 2005 and 2030 if the standards were adopted.
