Climate clock still ticking

In this mention

An article examining Congressional climate-change legislation and the debate surrounding cap-and-trade proposals. Stephen Smith, executive director of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, argues that climate action is a science and human health issue transcending partisan politics, and that carbon restrictions would compel TVA to move away from coal-fired power plants. The article presents opposing viewpoints from business groups and Republicans who contend the legislation would raise energy costs and eliminate jobs.

I think the clock is running against us. But I would appeal to people that this is not a partisan issue. It's not a political issue. It's a science issue. It's a human health and protect-our-environment issue. If you look at it through that lens, I think we can find common ground.

Stephen A. Smith
