Clean energy advocates worry Georgia progress could be in jeopardy from reconciliation bill

Clean energy advocates in Georgia worry about the impacts of cuts on the state's growing manufacturing sector from the federal reconciliation bill, or "big, beautiful bill," that met final passage by the U.S. House on Thursday.
The reconciliation bill makes significant cuts to clean energy tax credit programs implemented by the 2022 Inflation Reduction act. Those credits have helped to bring solar panel and electric vehicle manufacturing projects to Georgia.
Stan Cross, the electric transportation director for the Southern Alliance on Clean Energy, said that 28,000 EV jobs in Georgia could be on the line after the bill's passage.
" This bill injects uncertainty across the clean energy sector, which has the potential to shutter manufacturing, kill jobs, and cripple Georgia's progress," he said.
Proponents of the cuts say they reduce wasteful federal spending.
