Clean energy advocates warn of effects of gas plants on NC river
In this mention
Clean energy advocates, including Shelley Robbins of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, warned that Duke Energy's planned Combined Cycle Four natural gas power plant along North Carolina's Yadkin River would cause significant environmental and economic harm. Robbins highlighted concerns about massive water withdrawal and thermal pollution, arguing that solar, wind, and battery storage are better alternatives to meet the state's growing energy demands.
What does that mean for water level? What does it mean for agriculture needs, especially in a drought? That water is used for cooling. They would put water back in but it would be warmer. And it would just be different. It wouldn't have its same biological characteristics.
