Citizens' Climate Hearing in Asheville

Oct. 23, 2013 | 0 Comments

ASHEVILLE — Community leaders, parents, children and everyone are invited to gather at a Citizens' Climate Hearing 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Asheville's Cathedral of All Souls, 9 Swan St., to voice support for climate pollution limits. All comments will be recorded and sent to the agency as an official public record.

In September, the Environmental Protection Agency proposed limits on carbon dioxide from new fossil fueled power plants. Carbon pollution is fueling climate-related disasters, such as last October's Superstorm Sandy and this summer's extreme flooding, droughts and wildfires.

A convocation will precede this hearing, which coincides with the national Day of Remembrance for Superstorm Sandy and other extreme weather events fueled by climate pollution. The event is hosted by Cathedral of All Souls, Climate Parents, Sierra Club, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, WNC Alliance and WNC Green Congregations. Refreshments will be served.
