Bush's power plans could have local impact

President Bush's energy plan proposes re-examining EPA enforcement actions on coal-fired power plants' compliance with clean air standards, potentially saving TVA over $1 billion in pollution-control equipment. We think it's unfortunate that the administration may unilaterally dismiss bringing these old plants under new standards. It's bad for public health, and it's bad for air quality.
