Another oil project is planned in the Everglades. Gov. DeSantis called on to block it
In this mention
Environmental groups, including the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, have sent a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis urging him to block oil exploration activities by Burnett Oil Co. at Big Cypress National Preserve, a 1,139-square-mile area northwest of Everglades National Park. The groups argue the preserve serves as a critical water source for the Everglades and represents important remaining wilderness, and cite damage from previous exploration activities. The letter comes after DeSantis recently approved a state buyout of oil drilling rights in western Broward County.
