And the Nominees Are …
With this afternoon's deadline approaching, Escambia County has released an updated list of nominees for the RESTORE advisory committee's environmental seat. A list of organizations which have qualified to participate in the seat's selection process—as well as a list of those yet to qualify—has also been released.
Nominees for the environmental representative, with nominating party in parentesis, are as follows: Dave Cambron (self), Charles Green (individual), Dr. Gloria Horning (CATE), Bob Kriegel (Bayou Chico Association), Teresa Preston (Pensacola Beach Advocates), Robin Rowan (self), Bob Stender (PKA), Christian Wagley (350 Pensacola, Audubon Society, Bream Fishermen Association, Greens, Native Plant Society, Sustainable West Florida), Phil Wooley (self).
Two nominees—Jim Cox and Donnie McMahon—have recently withdrawn from consideration.
Organizations which have qualified for a vote in the selection process are as follows: Bream Fisherman's Association, Friends of Perdido Bay, Pensacola Big Game Fishing Club, Bayou Chico Associaiton, The Nature Conservancy, Native Plant Society, Audubon Society, Bayou Texar Foundation, Pensacola Beach Advocates, International Sustainable Boating Council, Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Gulf Coast Environmental Defense, Earth Ethics, Perdido Key Association, League of Women Voters and 350 Pensacola.
The following organizations have yet to qualify: CATE, Clean Water Network, Keep Pensacola Beautiful, Emerald Coast Keepers, Crescent Lake Association, Earth Day Pensacola, Escambia Greens, Friends of the Prairie, Gulf Coast Energy Network, Longleaf Alliance, Northwest Florida Environmental Conservancy, Pensacola Archaeological Society, Pensacola Beach Environmental Advocates, Sanders Beach Association, Save Our Shore, Sierra Club, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Surfrider Foundation, Sustainable West Florida, Unite Escambia, Wildlaw.
Nominees, as well as supporting documentation needed for an organization's qualification, must be submitted by the close of business today. Qualifying groups will vote on an environmental RESTORE representative during a public meeting Jan. 22.
